I'm doing the question even though I just did one. Dragonrane's busy on other stuff.
Michael J. Fox had a political ad during the world series in St. Louis urging people to vote for candiates that supported stem cell research.
I think that's incredibly selfish and whiny. His main reason for wanting more stem cell reseach i because he wants to be magically cured. I can respect that, but to go on tv and ask people to vote a certain way because you want to be magically cured is just self serving. What do you think?

I think his intentions and heart were in the right place and he really was thinking of others, but
the way he did it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

I disagree entirely. He must have known everyone would be all over him for doing the ad, but he did it anyway. That took a lot of courage.

I thought about this some more and I've come to a conclusion on why I'm so pissed at him.

When I was going through my crap I avoided actively complaining as much as possible. Even on the day bad days when I was constantly half a second away from puking and too tired to walk to the kitchen I would always say I was fine when someone asked. I couldn't stand the thought of people thinking I was weak and injured. I just didn't want anyone to see me like that.

Then I see Michael J. Fox going on TV weaving around in his chair and making everyone feel sorry for him. I guess the idea that some people wouldn't go to lengths to hide their problems just set something off.

He shouldn't have done the spot. Not because it was clearly political or because he is whiny, but because now everyone is so busy talking about the ad itself that no one is talking about stem cells.

He should have had his mother, wife, or girlfriend do it. That would get everyone talking about poor Michael J Fox and how we need to put more funding into stem cell research.

For what it's worth Nate I understand where you're coming from.
